Almo is located along the California Trail, a famous wagon trail. Emigrants going to California brought their wagons right through City of Rocks and you can see the ruts from the wagons. Register Rock was made famous by emigrants writing their names on the rock in axle grease. You can still read their names today!

Almo is also a photographers dream come true. The fall colors are impressive with a backdrop of tall granite pillars and spring is filled with fields of flowers. The granite pillars in City of Rocks also provide stunning opportunities for enthusiasts to use unique lighting and angles to create the photos of their dreams.
